Is BurnTide safe?

It is a supplement, not a medicine

BurnTide is a dietary supplement for healthy adults. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome or any other condition, and it is not a substitute for prescribed treatment. No independent clinical trial of the finished formula has been published.

Why "no side effects reported" is not good enough

You will find that claim on other pages selling this product. Apple cider vinegar has well-documented cautions, and they apply to any product containing it. Stating otherwise is not reassuring, it is just incomplete.

Tooth enamel

Acetic acid erodes enamel, and enamel does not grow back. Rinse your mouth with plain water after taking the gummy and wait about an hour before brushing, because enamel is softer straight after acid exposure. This is the single most practical precaution on this page.

Potassium

Regular vinegar intake can lower blood potassium. Do not take it if you already have hypokalemia, and be particularly careful if you take a diuretic, which increases potassium loss independently.

Throat, stomach and reflux

Acid can irritate the oesophagus and worsen reflux in people prone to it. Some people also notice nausea or heartburn in the first week.

Check with a doctor or pharmacist first if you take

Insulin or other diabetes medication — vinegar may lower blood sugar, which can make medication too effective and risk hypoglycaemia. Diuretics — combined potassium loss. Digoxin — potassium changes affect how it behaves. Also check if you take laxatives or blood pressure medication.

Who should not take it at all

Anyone under 18. Pregnant or nursing women. Anyone with type 1 diabetes or a history of ketoacidosis, because of the ketone content. Anyone with existing low potassium, kidney disease or significant reflux, without medical advice first.

When to see a doctor instead

Unexplained weight loss or gain, persistent fatigue, excessive thirst or urination, or any sudden change in appetite deserve proper assessment rather than a supplement. Several causes of a genuinely sluggish metabolism — thyroid disorders among them — are treatable once identified, and delaying that is the real risk.
